This was a comfortable hotel with friendly staff and large comfortable bedrooms. There was a large elegant dining room serving excellent food. The two bars were large and comfortable. Jim Thompson had played on the fact that at Halton we had a goat mascot when he chatted up the staff to obtain a discount. He presented a plaque to the hotel during our reunion dinner on the subject of Lewis the Halton goat - there were seven of them as mascots at Halton.
